On May 11, 2007, the sixth congress of the Chinese Association of Latin American Studies elected the new leadership. Prof. Su Zhenxing, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, renewed his term as the president.  Prof. Zheng Bingwen, Director of the Institute of Latin American Studies, was elected the executive vice president. Other vice presidents included Wang Hua, Wang Hongqiang, Wang Xiaode, Jiang Shixue, Shen An, Wu Hongying, Song Xiaoping, Yang Wanming, Xu Shicheng, and Han Qi.  Mr. Cheng Siwei, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, was invited to be the honorary president of the association.
