ILAS Staff Exposed at D.C. Conference
Fecha:2010/11/14 Autor:On May 26, Professor Chai Yu and Dr. Sun Hongbo were invited by Institute of the Americas in La Jolla, CA to participate in the academic conference entitled “China, Latin America and the United States: The New Triangle”, which was held at the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington D.C. About 200 participants from think tanks, business associations and embassies in Washington D.C took part in it. In her presentation, Professor Chai emphasized that China should be viewed as a constructive partner in Latin America, which increasingly produced a stimulative spillover of its robust economic growth to the hemisphere. She also pointed out that China’s inclusive development mode provides an opportunity that does not a threat in the Western Hemisphere. Dr Sun addressed the energy cooperation model that existed between China and Latin America, stressing its value for diversifying China's sources of oil imports.
Professor Chai and Dr Sun also paid visits to the Johns Hopkins Paul H. Zitze School of Advanced International Studies and the Inter-America Dialogue and exchanged views with the local colleagues.
